Hospital Depts Pass Government Inspections

Murphy Medical Center's Radiology, Pharmacy Deficiency Free

Murphy, NC - Murphy Medical Center’s Radiology and Pharmacy departments each recently passed rigorous governmental inspections.

Radiology StaffThe hospital’s Radiology Department passed an inspection on November 10 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Radiation Protection Section of the NC Department of Health and Human Services.  No deficiencies were noted and no improvement recommendations were made.

The annual radiology inspection ensures, in part, that all equipment maintenance is current, technologists and radiologists have adequate licensure and have met continuing education requirements, and that all policies are appropriate.

Toni Lovingood, Chief Operating Officer, said, “This was our Radiology Department’s first inspection since upgrading from film screen to digital mammography, so it’s an even more impressive achievement to pass with such flying colors.  I congratulate our Radiology staff for a job well done.”

Pharmacy StaffThe hospital’s Pharmacy was inspected by the NC Board of Pharmacy on November 28 and found to have zero deficiencies.  This comprehensive annual inspection looked at the pharmacy and patient areas, security of medications, medicine distribution processes, reviewed policies and procedures, and conducted audits and medicine inspections.

“In an impressive finding, the inspector stated that our Pharmacy is ‘neat and organized with very good control systems, both in pharmacy and patient care areas,'" stated Lovingood. “Our Pharmacy staff does an excellent job of ensuring accuracy of dispensed medication and patient safety."
