The Occupational Therapists at Murphy Medical Center provide services for acute care patients, outpatients, and nursing home residents.
These treatments are arranged toward restoring or developing the functions of daily living for individuals who have suffered traumatic injury, illness, or developmental disorder.
It is based on the philosophy that each individual has specific “occupational roles” in life, whether it be an elderly person living independently in their own home, a student being able to function in the school setting, or a nursing home resident enjoying a maximum level of activity while performing self care.
Common diagnoses evaluated and treated by MMC’s Occupational Therapist include:
- Head injury
- Developmental disorders
- Neurological disease
- Hip fracture recovery
- Spinal cord injury
- Guillian-Barre´ Syndrome
- Upper extremity trauma
