Dr. Teresa Heavner honored by Good Shepherd Heavner and CEO

The surprise celebration took place on July 16 at Shoebooties in Murphy and was attended by Heavner, her immediate family members, her co-workers from Chatuge Family Practice and numerous friends and colleagues from Murphy Medical Center and the community.

During dinner, a video retrospective of Heavner’s years of service was presented, and various individuals spoke of how her involvement with hospice services has benefited both the community and the individuals she has cared for.

Heavner’s role as Hospice Medical Director has included reviewing and approving the plan of care for every hospice patient, orienting hospice volunteers, visiting patients, presiding over Interdisciplinary Team meetings, participated on the Professional Advisory Committee, and consulting with hospice staff at all hours of the day, among others.

Resolution of Recognition and Appreciation of Heavner’s volunteered service was presented by Mike Stevenson, Murphy Medical Center CEO, on behalf of the organization’s Board of Directors. “Our community is so lucky to have you here,” said Stevenson.   “Not only have you selflessly served as Medical Director for Good Shepherd all these years, you have been Chief of Staff multiple times and served on numerous committees at the hospital.  We are very grateful for you and your giving spirit.”
