To provide our communities with high-quality, patient-centered care.
The volunteers of area thrift store Granny’s Attic recently presented a record annual donation of $46,300 to representatives of Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice Agency.
The auxiliary operates the Hayesville-based thrift store and annually donates its net proceeds to the non-profit Murphy Medical Center in support of its home health and hospice efforts.
“It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with our volunteers and the wonderful people of this area. Item donations have been spectacular this year and we have done very well”, stated Betty Schopp, outgoing President of Granny’s Attic.
Mary Carol Campbell, volunteer coordinator for Murphy Medical Center, thanked volunteers for making Granny’s Attic successful. “We are fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who donate their time and energy to operate Granny’s Attic Thrift Shop,” stated Campbell. “This thrift shop provides gently used merchandise, at a low cost to the community, and is a true asset to our hospice patients.”
Towanna Roberts, Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice Agency director, reported that financial aid given by Granny’s Attic helps provide care for many patients who have no payer source. This past year set a new high for numbers of indigent hospice patients.
Granny’s Attic is located in Suite B, 200 Highway 64 West in Hayesville. Items for donation are accepted Wednesday - Saturday, 9am to 4pm.
