Spring Gala Auction to benefit Home Health & Hospice
Murphy Medical Center hosting fundraiser for Good Shepherd

Peachtree -- Murphy Medical Center has announced its Spring Gala Auction benefiting Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice Agency.  The auction will be held Saturday, May 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at McGuire’s Millrace Farm in the Peachtree area of Murphy.

“It’s going to be a terrifically fun event,” said Judy Grove, Auction Chairperson.  “We’ll have a generous hot hors d’oeuvres buffet during which time folks can bid in our silent auction. Then our live auction will start with a wide selection of items sure to inspire some fun, competitive bidding.”

Silent auction items donated to date include theatre tickets, pottery, and various certificates for books, yarn, spa treatments, and a month-long gym membership, among others.

Auctioneer Bob Grove will lead a live auction of donated items including handmade and store-provided furniture, golf rounds, handmade doll house, memory quilts, beach condo trip, overnight resort/spa visit, woodturnings, fishing fly rod and case, handmade knives, framed prints, and more.

Many more donations are expected to both the live and silent auctions by the May event date.

“People in our area know what an asset Good Shepherd’s home health and hospice services are for us here, serving our own families and friends,” said Kathi Osborne, Foundation Director at the non-profit hospital.  “We can be proud that we contribute in our community when we hear what a financial challenge it is for the hospital to provide this kind of care due to lagging reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid and other payer sources.”

Osborne and Grove anticipate the event will be a sell-out with only 200 tickets being sold at $30 per person.  The auction is also depending on cash donations in order to make the fundraiser a success. Invitations to purchase tickets and/or to make a tax-deductible donation were mailed last week.

To order tickets or make a donation, contact Osborne at 835-7506.

Volunteers at Grove Enterprises help prepare the mailing of ticket and donation solicitations for the Spring Gala auction.  Anticipated attendance is 200 people, but organizers hope many more will make donations to the non-profit cause of home health and hospice care.
