Urgent Care Center

The Urgent Care Center in Murphy opened for business in March of 2010. The UCC houses a family practice facility where Dr. Glendon P. Rougeou, a board-certified family medicine practitioner, has office hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Also on medical staff are Mark Ward, Physicians' Assistant and Judy Kunkle, RN Nurse Practitioner.

The Urgent Care Center is located in the large log-cabin style structure on the corner of U.S. 74 and Ledford Street in Murphy. Hours for the Urgent Care Center are 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday. The telephone number is 828.837.4712.

Murphy Medical Center received $985,000 in support for development of the Urgent Care Center and Family Practice. The financial support was used to offset costs from land and building purchase, renovation and construction, equipment and furnishings, and recruitment of staff.

Grantors to the project were The Cannon Foundation, The Duke Endowment, Golden Leaf Foundation, North Carolina Health and Wellness Trust Fund, North Carolina Office of Rural Health and Community Care, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
