To provide our communities with high-quality, patient-centered care.
Murphy Medical Center Auxiliary honored four volunteers at their quarterly meeting in June. Pictured from left to right, Denora Ramsey, Joy Knee, Eva Robinson and Mary Lutz-Karvonen were recognized for their dedication to the hospital's volunteer program and to Granny's Attic Thrift Store.
Denora Ramsey, a retired school teacher, is a native of Indiana and spent many years in Florida. Now living in Clay County, Denora has volunteered at Granny's Attic since 1995. Granny's Attic, a thrift store in Hayesville, donates their profits to Good Shepherd Home Health and Hospice Agency, a department of Murphy Medical Center. Denora served as Granny's Attic president for two years and has prepared the monthly calendar for 11 years.
Joy Knee retired from Ft. Lauderdale in June, 2004. She enjoys gardening, baking and cake decorating, stained glass, playing her guitar and church activities. Her passion is the Nursing Home of Murphy Medical Center, where she loves helping with activities and visiting with the residents.
Originally from Syracuse, Eva Robinson later had an accounting and tax practice in New Orleans. She currently maintains a real estate license and an insurance license, and loves to travel, but her time now is full of volunteering four days a week at Granny's Attic and the hospital gift shop, The Giving Tree.
Mary Lutz-Karvonen is a retired nurse from Ocala, Florida and claims to be the number one Florida Gator Fan in the state. Her goal as a nurse was to be a "pink lady" when she retired because they always had the needed time to comfort and support the patients, families, and fellow staff in stressful situations.
Murphy Medical Center's Auxiliary offers a variety of opportunities for volunteers to enrich their own lives by helping others. For more information, call 835-3667.
